Darleen Reichmuth Croft was an outstanding cross-country and track athlete at Wheeling High School. Her cross-country teams won multiple MSL and I.H.S.A. regional and sectional championships, and she was a member of the 1984 I.H.S.A. state championship team. Darleen was also a three-time all-state runner in cross-country, finishing 12th in 1982, 22nd in 1983, and 3rd in 1984. In track and field, Darleen was a member of three MSL and I.H.S.A. sectional championship teams and a five-time state medalist. She finished 7th in the 1600m in ‘82. In the 800m run she was 5th in ‘83, 2nd in ‘84, and 3rd in ‘85. In 1985 Darleen also finished 3rd in the 4 x 400 relay at the I.H.S.A. state meet.
