Tom Stothoff was an outstanding 2-sport athlete at Wheeling High School. Tom was a 3-year varsity starter and letter winner in baseball. In the sport of basketball, Tom is considered one of the best players in the history of the school. A starter on the boy’s varsity basketball team for all of his 4 years at Wheeling, Tom graduated as the 2nd leading scorer in the history of the school with 1,299 points. He finished his career as the all-time leader in assists with a total of 522. Tom also grabbed 626 rebounds in his career. As a member of the varsity basketball team, Tom was a three-time selection to the all-tournament team at Wheeling’s Hardwood Classic. He was also a two-time member of the Mid Suburban League all-conference team, a two-time Daily Herald All-Area honoree, and was named to the All-State honorable mention team twice.
