Jim Golden Coaching

Jim Golden was an outstanding football coach for over 30 years at Wheeling High School. Jim came to Wheeling in 1982 after teaching and coaching at Rolling Meadows High School. Coach Golden positively impacted the Wildcat football program by working as the offensive line coach, linebacker coach, and defensive coordinator. In 1985 as the defensive coordinator Jim helped guide the Wildcats to its 1st conference championship in school history and a place in the IHSA playoffs. Jim also helped guide the Cats to the MSL championship and IHSA playoffs in 1988. In 1994 the Wildcats again won the MSL conference, qualified for the IHSA playoffs and won 9 games for the first time in its history. In his career as a coach Jim helped many athletes play football in college, including Wheeling Hall of Famer and former NFL linebacker Tom McManus. Wheeling High School is proud to induct Jim Golden into the Wheeling Athletic Hall of Fame.
