Marc Burns Athletics

Marc was an outstanding cross country and track and field athlete at Wheeling High School. In cross country Marc was a two-time I.H.S.A. state qualifier. In 1984 he finished 26th in the state and helped Wheeling to a 3rd place team finish. Marc was the 1985 MSL individual champion and helped Wheeling win the MSL. That year he also finished 2nd at sectionals and Wheeling was the sectional champion. In track and field Marc was a two time state qualifier in the 3200m run in 1985 and 1986. Marc also qualified for the 1600m run and 1600m relay in 1986. After graduating from Wheeling Marc ran at Loyola University, Chicago. At Loyola Marc was a two-time NCAA Division I All American. In 1990 Marc ran the 3rd fastest time in the nation in the 3000m run. Since graduation Marc has served as the head cross country coach at Loyola, Wichita State University, Bradley and is currently the head cross country coach at the University of Missouri.
